TEXT: GENESIS 24:33-49.
🔑KEY VERSE “And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee” (GENESIS 24:45).
Today’s text reveals one of the most striking proofs of the faithfulness of God concerning what He says: “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24). It speaks truly about God’s awesomeness, omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence!
Finite man does not have the language to fully describe the greatness of this great God but we do possess to sensibilities to stand in awe of the Creator who orders our journey when we place it in His hands! The point is God answers our prayers to shore-up our faith in Him and make nonsense the cynicism of the heathen.
Such was the amazement of Abraham’s servant at the prompt answer to his prayer. “And the man (Abraham’s servant) wondering as her (Rebekah) held his peace, to wait whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.” Full of gratitude, he “bowed down his head and worshipped the Lord” (verse 26). His request was dramatically granted by God Genesis 24:14-27.
The Bible is replete with accounts of God’s marvelous work through the prayers that were presented to Him in absolute faith. He is no respecter of persons; and He granted the request of Abraham and Eliezer, the loyal servant, He will grant hours too. But we must ensure that we ask in faith and in line with His will.
✍THOUGHT FOR THE DAY As God was faithful in Bible times, so He will be forever.

“The children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light”
- Faith marriage or relationship is not blind. There must always be scripturally defined boundaries and no go areas.
Q What were the no go areas defined by Abraham, the father of faith, on marriage for his son? vv37,38.
- The will of God in any intending relationship is not a mechanical. It must be evidenced with the approval of the mind, soul and feelings of all the parties involved if there is consecration to do the will of God vv46-47. Eleazar and Abraham agreed with Rebekah and her family on this relationship. God works at both ends.

HYMN Sweet hour of prayer
1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
