TEXT: NUMBERS 19:11-22.
🔑KEY VERSE “But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean” (NUMBERS 19:20).

Our contemporary world is enmeshed in damming acts of impurity and debauchery. Because iniquity abounds, the heart of most men are determined to practice evil. Those who once abhorred sin like plague ironically have become active participants because of wrong perception that doing good in the midst of evil is foolishness. Yet, God will judge all unrighteousness.

His desire for all men in every generation is that we should be holy.

He created man in His holy image. Even after the Fall, He made the plan of salvation so that man could regain his original nature and true holiness. This is because God himself is Holy and wants to have fellowship with man.

Our text reveals the responsibility of being defiled as a result of touching the dead body of a man and the necessary purification rites. However, if the defiled remained in his uncleanness, he shall be cut off from among the congregation. Under the New Testament dispensation, Jesus Christ, the spotless Lamb of God, has made atonement for sins of the whole world. “Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” The Lord has promised to forgive every penitent sinner.

What happens to hardened sinners and backsliders who continue in their evil ways? “There remains no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgement and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.” God loves all men and is willing to forgive all sinners and backsliders who penitently seek Him. Take advantage of His mercy today and make your ways right with Him.

MEDITATION

Divine antidote for diseases

  1. Swallow and digest the following promises into your mind, soul and spirit Exodus 15:26, 23:25, Psalm 91:3.
    …conditions apply
Carefully check the conditions attached to the dosage (promises).
    Some are:
    a. You must be a child of God because it is impossible for a sinful nature to obey all the commandments of God.
    b. Make sure your “water and food” is the kind the Lord will like to bless before you swallow.
    c. Do not fear any pestilence and its effects on others. They are not for children of God.
d What are the other conditions you can infer from the promises?
  2. Other preventive measures that must be obeyed Numbers 19:11-22
    a. Avoid touching any infected person v11.
    b. Hands must be carefully washed with water v12.
    c. Those who got close to a confirmed infected person must be quarantined for some days and be declared free before admittance to the society v14.
    d. An infected person shall be treated by those priests (medical personal in modern times) dedicated for that purpose vv17,18.
    e. All hygienic necessities like washing of clothes and bathing must be taken seriously v19.
    f. The promises in Exodus does not cancel all the needful cautions mentioned in the text. Disobedience to them is disobedience to the laws of God vv20,21.
Praise God that COVID-19 and Lassa fever are not for you
Praise God for the divine and comprehensive insurance policy against all sicknesses and diseases that Jesus has fully paid for all God’s children. The policy also cures in case of carelessness.
Cover yourself and family with the blood of Jesus and confess the promises of God. They will never fail!
Pray that the mercy of God will not allow it to spread to your locality
Pray that God will inspire a sure cure medication

HYMN Standing on the promises

1 Standing on the promises of Christ my king,
through eternal ages let his praises ring;
glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain:
Standing, standing,
standing on the promises of God my Savior;
standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
2 Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
3 Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
bound to him eternally by love’s strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
4 Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
listening every moment to the Spirit’s call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
